How we report
- Sources first, story second. Every piece starts by gathering facts from at least two independent sources. The sources are listed at the end of each article.
- Only what the sources say. Every factual sentence must trace back to a source; opinion and advice are written as opinion and advice.
- Independent checking. Each piece is checked against its sources, scored on clear criteria (accuracy, clarity, usefulness to engineers) and revised before it runs. Pieces that fall short are not published.
- No invented bylines. Articles carry the name of their section. We do not create profiles of writers who do not exist.
- Corrections in the open. When we find a mistake, we fix the article.
